Hello Water Jets - We are excited for our first meet of the season tonight! We will be traveling to Weddington Racquet Club to swim against the Wahoos. Please read this email for important reminders AND some details from Weddington. We will send the Heat Sheet once we receive it. Your swimmers events are already listed in the Swimtopia App. 

Reminders from the Water Jets:

• ATTENDANCE: Please declare your swimmers attendance for the meets on Thursday AND next week if you haven't already done so. 
• WEATHER: When there are weather delays - we will send updates via email. Assume the meet/practice is ON unless your email says otherwise.
• SPORTSMANSHIP: Please encourage your swimmers to show good sportsmanship and respectful behavior. Congratulate ALL swimmers on a job well done. Swimmers should wait in the water until everyone in their heat is finished. We want to hear lots of cheering and encouragement for our Water Jets. Please also take extra care to clean up any trash before leaving the meet. There's a sportsmanship award given at the end of the season and we KNOW the Hunter Oaks Water Jets can win it! 
• RELAY ORDERS: Some swimmers will be swimming in the Medley Relay. We didn't practice that in the Mock Meet. The Medley Relay order is as follows: Back/Breast/Fly/Free (ABC order). So if your child is swimmer #3 in that relay - they will be swimming Fly. The IM order is Fly/Back/Breast/Free. Feel free to write this on them if that helps ;-) 
• MISSED RELAYS: If your swimmer is late to the meet and/or a no-show for their relay - they will NOT be put in a relay the next meet. It's not fair to the other 3 kids on the relay team. Please pay attention to the heat sheets and be there on time.
• ARRIVAL AT AWAY MEETS: Please arrive at the meet by 5:15pm. Warm-ups for our team will begin promptly at 5:30pm and the meet will start at 6pm. If you are volunteering, please see the email from our volunteer coordinator Sarah Tate with those details/reminders. 

IMPORTANT Info from Weddington: 

• THEME: The theme for the meet is Neon/Glow Night! Feel free to participate if you'd like. 
• PARKING & SEATING: 4315 Weddington Matthews Rd. Parking attendants will be on hand to help direct cars to parking areas including the main lot and overflow field behind the pool. The visiting team sits to the left side of the facility and may use the picnic area and bring folding chairs for seating. Attached is a very helpful map. Please take a look at it. 
• PER GCSL: the kiddie pool, shallow-end and diving well of the main pool, playground, and basketball courts will be closed during the meet. 
• VOLUNTEERS: The Wahoos switch from first to second shift between events 32 & 33 (at the end of backstroke and start of IM events). 
• CONCESSIONS: The concession stand will be open and serves pizza, hotdogs, pretzels, drinks, Chick Fil A, TCBY and other treats. 
• CLERK OF COURSE: We ask that swimmers enter the Clerk of Course (CoC) area from the dive well on the right side of the pool. There is a table there for CoC check-in. We ask that swimmers only enter from the dive well side and DO NOT enter CoC from the left side by going behind the blocks. NO parents should be with their swimmers in the CoC - unless you are volunteering there.
