HOWJ: Day 1 Practice Reminders! Please read

Hello Swim Team Parents – Thank you for reading these quick reminders after day one of practice!

WHEN PRACTICE ENDS: When each practice is over, the gates open and the kids run out. The board members and coaches are NOT able to watch kids until parents arrive. Please have a plan for your child to meet you, or another trusted adult, once your practice is over each day.

CHANGING/RESTROOMS: No adult men should be in the women's room, and no adult women should be in the men's room. This is for everyone's safety - even if your child needs help getting changed. Please be respectful of this.

WEATHER POLICY: If there's thunder (like we had today), we will shut down practice. We will do our best to get an email out quickly. BUT, if you drop your child off and leave during practice, please have a plan in place with another parent, friend, neighbor so your child knows who to go home with or what to do in the event of an unexpected closure and we have to CLEAR THE DECK. It is not the job of the coaches or board to keep track of all the kids.

CAPS & GOGGLES: A note from Coach Whitney… please have your girls wear their caps to practice. It helps keep their hair out of their faces and makes for faster swimming too! If you need help on how to put the cap on – ask a returning parent – I am sure they would be glad to show you. If you need to buy a cap (they must wear either a HOWJ cap or a black cap to the meets) you can buy one from a Board member at the practices for $10 cash, check, Venmo or Zelle. Please also send your swimmer with goggles – marked with your family name.

NO GUM: Please remind your kids of this important rule!

PRACTICE ATTENDANCE: We do NOT need to know ahead of time if your swimmer won’t be at practice. We DO need to know about meet attendance and we’ll send that reminder out closer to the first meet on how to do that. Please make every effort to attend the practices.

We are off to a great start this week and keeping a close eye on the weather tomorrow.
